SOAR

The username field for comments used to be editable. This was to support those using the Simple Membership/Shared Accounts mode.

We have now updated this behavior to only allow an editable username field for comments when using a shared account. When someone uses and individual account the Username on Comments will default to their account name and is not editable.

Support for these older version of PackMaster and TroopMaster have been removed from the SOAR website service.

If you are still using these version, you should go to www.troopmaster.com and upgrade your software.

EBlast

Any scheduled EBlasts for Sunday (1/3/2010) did not go out automatically yesterday. An additional error was found in the EBlast scheduling logic that deals with end of year wrap around. This effectively prevented any EBlasts from going out on the first day (Sunday) of the new calendar week.

The logic has been corrected so that the problem will not occur at the end of next year and the remaining EBlasts for this week will go out as normal.

Service Outage – 12/19/2009 9AM – 1PM EST

At approximately 9:00 AM EST on Saturday December 19th, one of our Database Servers started having issues. The hard drive controller started producing intermittent errors which started corrupting data on the hard drives themselves. Some customers lost access to their sites at this time as individual customer databases became corrupt due to the hardware errors.

The existing Site Themes have a Home Page that displays limited information before members login. It shows the “teasers” for Announcements, dates and names of Upcoming Events, dates and names of Event Registrations, and Public Custom Pages. While you can’t get any other information without logging in, many customers have requested a more private Home Page for guests that hides event that information.

The new Splash Page feature will provide a different Home Page for anonymous users than it does for members that login. The new “Splash Page” for anonymous users includes:

The menu portion of the Site Themes have been updated to indent the 2nd line of long menu items that wrap to more than one line. This will assist your members in being able to distinguish between different menu items.

There were a couple of places within your website where the time stamp of content would not display properly, based on your timezone setting – comments and event registration. The display has been fixed and all future content added will properly display the time stamp it was added or modified.

The notes field used during Event Registration supports a maximum of 127 characters. There was no user feedback when a member entered more than 127 characters though. That has been fixed. When a member enters more than 127 characters they will be notified that they need to reduce the amount of text in the field. The text entry box for notes has also been reduced in size to reflect the amount of information that can be entered.

With the update of the Rich Text Editor in September a bug was found that prevented saving of pages with a large amount of content. That bug has been fixed.

The “remember password” feature of browsers and operating systems are widely used features to automatically login to your SOAR websites.

There is a bug in these features that can cause your SOAR website username/password to be entered automatically into website member’s fields while editing them through the Admin/Manage screens. Thus every time you edit a website account through SOAR you have to remove your own username/password.

While this is not an issue of the SOAR service we understand that it is frustrating to our customers and the browsers/operating systems are not going to fix it anytime soon. So we came up with a work around. You can now use the “remember password” feature without the previous side effect.
