Update: Email Lists

We have updated the Email List features with a number of enhancements to increase usability of this important feature for SOAR customers.

  1. Sender not a member of Email List
    • A sender would not receive a copy of the email when they sent an email to an Email List they are not a member of.
    • We have added delivery of a copy of the email to the non-member sender.
    • The sender still needs to be authorized to send the email, like normal.
  2. List Members in CC fields
    • If an email address is already a member of the Email List, we now remove the email address if it occurs in the CC field.

Verizon.net email issues resolved

As of Monday October 26, 2014 the issues that Verizon email servers were having have been resolved.

We are not seeing any more delivery issues to @verizon.net email addresses.

Verizon.net email issues

Customers have been reporting issues with delivery of email to @verizon.net email addresses.

We can confirm that Verizon is having a system wide issue with their email right now. Many people across the internet are experiencing the same issue. Has nothing to do with SOAR.

You may receive bounce back messages from your members with @verizon.net email addresses. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. Sending the email to them directly will result in the same problem.

We will provide an update when Verizon fixes the issue.

Update: Fixed headers for member lists

The new Unit Roster feature added a number of great new management functions to be able to edit multiple member's information in a single place. The difficulty was that with a large list of members, it was often easy to forget what the column headers were for these screens as you scrolled down the page.

SOAR has updated these screens to allow the member lists on these page to scroll, while fixing the position of the header row at the top. This way you will always be able to see the table headers while using the management screens. This was accomplished through Javascript technology.

The "fixed header" update has been applied to the following management pages within your SOAR website

New: Medical Form Management

We have made a number of updates to make managing Medical Form Dates easier.

  • Admin/Members/Manage/Med Forms
    • This new administrative page will allow you to add/update the dates for all Active members medical forms at one time.
    • This page is available to anyone with Manage Roster or Administrative permissions.
    • This page will be active if you have Medical Forms turned on at Admin/Members/Options/Roster Settings.
  • Event Attendee List - Print Report
    • Medical Form Dates and Medical Information will display in the printed version of the Attendee List.

New: View/Edit email addresses and settings

Want an easy way to see what your members email addresses and Receive and EBlast settings are? How about editing the email addresses and settings for all members at once?

You will find two new features on your SOAR website to allow you to do that.

  • Menu/Roster/Email Addresses
This new Report will show all Active members in your Roster with their email addresses as well as the Receive and EBlast options for each email address

This report is available to those with Manage Roster or Administrative permissions
  • Admin/Members/Manage/Member Emails
This new administrative page will allow you to edit the email addresses and Receive/EBlast options for all Active members on a single screen.

Update: Photo Upload Tools

The SOAR Photo Upload tool has been based on Java technology since we started. We chose that technology because it provided the most feature rich upload tool we could find.

Over the last year the security of Java continues to be a problem. There have been numerous releases of the Java software and each browser update seems to change/add something with regard to Java.

It is clear moving forward that the customer experience with our Java based Photo Upload Tool is not going to work. We get more support tickets each month just on the Photo Upload Tool and Java than any other subject.

Today SOAR has released an updated Photo Upload tool that combines multiple technologies (HTML5, Flash, Silverlight, and HTML4) into a single tool. The tool will match the best technology that your browser uses and provide a similar experience across all technologies. All without Java and the issues that come with it.

Service Interruption Notice 6/29/2014 - Site Access

SOAR Customers,

We put through a patch this morning at 6:00 AM EST. The patch process did not complete as it should have – the database cache for each site did not clear.

This resulted in login issues and feature access issues for some customers.

We found the problem and completed the patch process at 8:30 AM EST which removed the login/feature access issue you were having.

We apologize for the inability to access your SOAR website during this time.

Bug Fix: date fields in Roster

We have fixed the bug that required you to use dashes (-) when entering dates in Roster entries.

You can now uses slashes (/) and dashes (-).

Feature Update: new Roster permission

With the release of the new Unit Roster feature came a new permission called Roster that you can assign to members.

The Roster permission is in between the Add Content and Administrative permissions. It allows you to delegate the responsibility for managing members on your SOAR website and Roster without giving them full Administrative permission. This includes assigning permissions to other members.

Through customer feedback, we have found that the Roster permission level should not have the ability to add or modify Administrative permissions for other site members.

We have changed this behavior. The Roster permission level can now only add/modify the Add Content and Roster permissions for unit members.
